Tire shop woes
I recently picked up an old (71) f350 and wanted to put new rubber on it all around – so order the six tires and bring them to my local store shop. Everything going fine and then I hear (and feel) an explosion – it turns out ONE rim was a 16.5, the other 5 rims were 16’s. The bead broke when the guy was airing it up and ripped the sidewall up to the tread. Thankfully no one hurt.
Shop charged me for all 6 mount/ balance and told me to fuck off with my ripped tire saying it was my responsibility to know. So I’ve got 5 working wheels and a broken up tire 1/2 mounted on the rim. I’m not going to fight them over it, but I’m just curious as to who really is at fault here other than the dingus who put the wheel on the truck in the first place.
